Laughing

On Saturday night Carter laughed for the first time when I was getting him to smile for Julie. It was really cute. He has done it a few more times since. Apparently, he has a very ticklish neck just like Mommy. I won’t take advantage of that like my mother did and torture him or sit on him while I hold his arms and go at his neck with my face! Because I don’t want him to have a crippling adult phobia of anyone touching his neck, like me. Hmmm wonder why, someone should have called child services Dad!

On friday night Carter slept 12 hours! Love it. But wouldn’t go to sleep until 11pm on Saturday and was up at least 5 times throughout the night, ugh. Last night he did about 10 hours.

Uh oh speaking of which he is up from his nap and crying, gotta go. Write more later.

Carter’s 1st big milestone!

Ok real quick, so it’s Annoying-Braggy-Mom time! Yesterday Carter rolled over from his tummy to his back! I was so excited I screamed and scared the crap out of the poor little guy. Jimmy was home and heard me scream and I started calling him so he came running. I almost gave him a heart attack too. He wouldn’t do it again for Daddy, but the improtant thing is that he did it for me :0)

Tomorrow Carter will be 11 weeks and he is becoming so exciting for me to spend my days with. Everyday he becomes more animated and interacting with him is so rewarding! He reacts facially and vocally when he hears our voices or sees our faces. It won’t be long now until he laughs because his smiles are so enthusiastic now that he sqeaks when he is really excited. Oh I just want to eat him up. I LOVE this stage!

Last night we put him to sleep at 8pm and he slept until 7am, 11 hours people! It just keeps getting better and better. I know this sounds unheard of, dare I say, but I am sleeping better now then I did when I was pregnant. The kid is sleeping like a rock now. No question of who’s nephew he is!

New Bedtime Routine

Well, we survived out first vacation with Carter. We actaully had a really good time. He is officially a portable baby. Well, RV-portable at least. Tent camping would be a whole other story! My biggest fear was that he would keep everyone up at night but he barely made a peep at night the whole trip. Our biggest challenge wound up being keeping him cool in the 100+ degree heat after my parents RV’s air conditioner died! We did cut the trip a day short after that for his sake.

The day after we got back Michelle came in from California to visit for 4 days and meet Carter. We had a good time and she took lots of pictures of Carter for the rest of the friends back home.

Carter is still having the reflux issues, some days worse than others, but overall I think it has dramatically improved. I am crediting it to a combination of eliminating cow’s milk protein from my diet, sleeping in his bouncer and the chiropractic adjustments he has been receiving every week.

My parents came by to say their goodbyes to Baby Carter tonight. They left for their RV sightseeing trip across the US for the next 2 months. I was skeptical that my Mom would actually be able to drive away from her grandson, but she did it. We have a pool going to see how far she will make it before turning around :0) They have dreamt of this trip for a long time and are very deserving of enjoying it together. I promised to send her an abundant number of picture messages during their trip to keep her up on Carter’s milestones. We will sure miss them while they are gone. Carter has seen them almost every day since he was born and knows their faces very well, they always are greeted with a smile and even an occasional coo.

We have started a new bedtime routine with Carter. Before we were putting him to bed later in hopes that he would sleep in later, but he was getting really fussy at night from around 8pm to bedtime around 10pm. I was talking to Brenda about it and she suggested I put him down earlier to try and skip the fussy time. What she said made sense and I have been taking her advice. Now I feed him at 7:30pm and he is in bed by 8pm. The first night I tried it he slept until 6am, 10 hours! So much for my original theory! He still has his fussy nights now and then, but overall it is a huge improvement. Thanks Bren :0) And even better for Jimmy and I is that we have our evenings together back. Now we can cuddle on the couch and watch our shows instead of taking turns playing pass the baby :0)

Speaking of which, the baby is in bed and my husband is alone on the couch so I am off to enjoy this time!
