Well, we survived out first vacation with Carter. We actaully had a really good time. He is officially a portable baby. Well, RV-portable at least. Tent camping would be a whole other story! My biggest fear was that he would keep everyone up at night but he barely made a peep at night the whole trip. Our biggest challenge wound up being keeping him cool in the 100+ degree heat after my parents RV’s air conditioner died! We did cut the trip a day short after that for his sake.
The day after we got back Michelle came in from California to visit for 4 days and meet Carter. We had a good time and she took lots of pictures of Carter for the rest of the friends back home.
Carter is still having the reflux issues, some days worse than others, but overall I think it has dramatically improved. I am crediting it to a combination of eliminating cow’s milk protein from my diet, sleeping in his bouncer and the chiropractic adjustments he has been receiving every week.
My parents came by to say their goodbyes to Baby Carter tonight. They left for their RV sightseeing trip across the US for the next 2 months. I was skeptical that my Mom would actually be able to drive away from her grandson, but she did it. We have a pool going to see how far she will make it before turning around :0) They have dreamt of this trip for a long time and are very deserving of enjoying it together. I promised to send her an abundant number of picture messages during their trip to keep her up on Carter’s milestones. We will sure miss them while they are gone. Carter has seen them almost every day since he was born and knows their faces very well, they always are greeted with a smile and even an occasional coo.
We have started a new bedtime routine with Carter. Before we were putting him to bed later in hopes that he would sleep in later, but he was getting really fussy at night from around 8pm to bedtime around 10pm. I was talking to Brenda about it and she suggested I put him down earlier to try and skip the fussy time. What she said made sense and I have been taking her advice. Now I feed him at 7:30pm and he is in bed by 8pm. The first night I tried it he slept until 6am, 10 hours! So much for my original theory! He still has his fussy nights now and then, but overall it is a huge improvement. Thanks Bren :0) And even better for Jimmy and I is that we have our evenings together back. Now we can cuddle on the couch and watch our shows instead of taking turns playing pass the baby :0)
Speaking of which, the baby is in bed and my husband is alone on the couch so I am off to enjoy this time!
